Europe is threatened by another Chernobyl.

The flow of information on continued military standoff in eastern Ukraine somewhat diminishes the importance of the processes in energy sector of this country which are actually essential for every European and citizens of adjoining countries in the first run. They may expect the most devastating nuclear catastrophe in the world at any moment. This is neither a joke nor a scarecrow. This is reality.

Several years ago enterprising American businessmen working for Westinghouse company entered the deal to supply adapted constructions of fuel elements (TVEL) for Ukrainian nuclear power plants. It’s worth noting that NPPs in most countries of Eastern Europe and in the countries, used to be USSR republics in the past, have been constructed and built according to the standards and technologies different from those in the USA. But lust for immediate profits (senior officials involved appear to have had their personal financial interest in it) pushed Ukrainians to rather a risky decision of using incompatible elements. Surely, TVELs were “adapted” by Westinghouse company, but it seems this was done in absence of any comprehensive and sufficiently financed research to estimate possible risks of their exploitation on Ukrainian NPPs (perhaps the research only existed as a paper variant).

GTA V. The most racist online community ever?

Yeah, Grand Theft Auto V will indeed hardly ever climb the top list of the most human video games. But actually for this time the post is not about the game's developers, parent publishers, women rights and Australia... it is about racism. The racism in GTAV is crazy. Just let's be honest - the game is breathing with racism, starting with cops that are openly racist towards the black character, Franklin and up to lazy kids speaking mean racist in online.

Third Maidan is just a question of a little time

While President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and country’s PM Arsenyi Yatsenyuk violently defend independence of Ukraine and soliciting European Union for more credits, Ukraine goes deeper into economic crisis and the fact is confirmed by the World Bank that downgraded the GDP decline expectation for Ukraine in 2015 to 2.3 percent while gap in the balance of payments will be around 2.7 percent.

The current economic situation in Ukraine such as nearly destroyed economy, idle industry, tax collection issues, exports decline, lack of investment, cutback of social programs and benefits, urged by growing influence of nationalists, results in substantial discontent growth among Ukraine’s population we already witnessed in a number of Ukrainian regions and cities. In Kharkiv and Odessa radical nationalists were behind the unrest, while in Volhynia the discontent was caused by current economic policy of acting authorities, and likely the dissatisfaction will continue spreading over Ukraine.

Ukrainian membership in the EU: a dream or reality?

Even after such dogmatic statement of European Commission ex-President, J. M. Barroso as “the EU is not ready at this stage to offer its membership to Ukraine because for successful political and economic integration with the EU Ukraine should go through a long road of rather painful reforms and transformations”, it have already been clear that Europeans are not in haste to take Ukraine the rightful place in their EU family. And just after the categorical proposition of Jan Tombinski, the EU Ambassador to Ukraine, who has recently said that there is no any sense for current Ukraine to request EU membership because of most EU member-states’ disagreement to support such step, it becomes absolutely obvious to everyone that the door has been deafeningly closed to Ukraine’s entry into the EU!

But were the EU doors actually opened for Ukraine? Oh, no, of course! Simply during the revolutionary upsurge new Kiev’s rulers did not wish to hear Brussels’ repeated declarations that Ukrainian membership in the EU is only the top target for current Ukraine, its dream, for the purpose of which Kiev should invest a lot of efforts. Ukrainian full membership in the EU has been always seen by Brussels as far future, the same as EU entry’s perspectives for Turkey that, as you know, is making preparations for it for over 50 years!

A spit in face of everything that free society is based on

Kmart Australia joins Target Australia in pulling GTA V from shelves.

Retailer Kmart Australia joins Target Australia decision and pulls copies of Grand Theft Auto 5 from store shelves in response to complaints from customers about the game's depictions of violence against women.

Karl Slatoff, GTA V parent publisher Take-Two Interactive president:

'Obviously the Australia situation is disappointing on many levels. It's one thing for a person to not want to buy a piece of content, which is understandable. And that's really the solution. If you don't like it; if it's offensive to you, then you don't buy it. But for a person or a group of people to try to make that decision for millions of people... we have 34 million people who have bought GTA V. If these folks had heir way, none of those people would be able to buy GTA. And that really just flies in the face of everything that free society is based on.'

Ok. But  let me get you back to the US. Eric Garner. A man been selling 'loosies' from packs without stamps. It's one thing for a person to not want to buy single cigarettes from a stranger in a street. Yet the same solution, right? If you don't like it or if it's offensive to you, you are not to buy it. But for a group of people wearing NYPD uniform to try to make that decision for millions... those who in dis country simply cannot afford themselves to buy daily a pack, those who need that damn single cigarette right here and now.... RIP Eric. RIP free US society.

I can't breathe...
